Hubballi: The state government,
sports and Ayush departments, in collaboration with yoga organisations, will organise Yogaathon which will be conducted across the state on January 15.
The Yogathan in Dharwad will be conducted at various places in the twin city.
More than 5 lakh people will participate in the event. The event was supposed to happen last September but was postponed because of rain. About 32,000 people from the twin city will take part in the Yogathan to make a record. According to the source, the event in Dharwad has planned with the National Youth Festival.
The administration has identified the place to conduct the yoga performance at Karnataka College, Dharwad. More than 32,000 yoga enthusiasts will participate.
This is an effort to leverage the power of youth, where more than 5 lakh young people from different districts would participate in an effort to break the Guinness World Record on Yogasana, district Ayush officer BP Pujari said. A meeting has been held in this regard and information has been given to departments and organisations. Practice is goin on, he said.
All proper arrangements will be made including transportation for NSS, NCC, yoga institutes, various public organisations and educational institutes.
The high school, pre-graduation college and degree college students should participate in the Yogathon.
Five places have been identified — Agricultural University, Karnataka College, JSS College, RN Shetty ground and Railway ground in Hubballi city.
