UoM staffstage protest
Mysuru: The indefinite protest launched by housekeeping staff and cooks of University of Mysore (UoM) seeking release of provident fund and ESI entered fourth day on Friday. The workers have been raising slogans against the authorities of UoM during the protest. Their leader Chandrashekar Meti said the authorities had conducted a meeting on Thursday, but there was no follow-up. “The authorities have not visited us. The varsity has not bothered about the safety of workers — they have not issued safety gears like gloves, shoes, mask and other equipment,” he said. They later called off the protest. Activists P S Sandhya, Muddu Krishna, Puttaraju and others were present.
Int’l school celebrates 20th Founder’s Day
Mysuru: City-based Jnanasarovara International Residential School (JIRS) celebrated its 20th Founder’s Day. The theme for the programme was ‘Samaraysa’. JIRS president Sudhakar S Shetty presided over the programme and Mysuru mayor Shivakumar was the chief guest. C’magaluru girl part of natl-level pencak silat
Mysuru: Chikkamagaluru-based Rochita B Naik, a class IV student of Kuvempu Vidyaniketan in Kadrimidri, has been selected for national-level pencak silat scheduled to be held at Nanded in Maharashtra from January 13 to 16. Rochita bagged first place in the 8th state-level Pencak Silat Games in the 30-32 kg category, held in Bengaluru, recently. She is the daughter of Bheema Naik, Government Higher Primary School, Kabbinahalli, and Hemi Bai, nursing officer, District Hospital, Chikkamagaluru.
