PANAJI: Labour minister Atanasio Monserrate on Friday said that a new 150-bed superspecialty hospital will be constructed in an area of 60,000 sqm at Mulgao, Bicholim for North Goa. “Within two months construction of the project will start and it will be completed in two years,” Monserrate said.
He said that the hospital will be contracted by the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), and the cost of construction, purchase of equipment and salaries will be taken care of by the ESIC.
He said that as the land belongs to the Goa Housing Board, the ESIC has requested the board to transfer the land.
He said that they want to shift the out patient department (OPD) to the dispensary at the Verna industrial estate and will ask the IDC chairman to allot space. “Presently, the OPD is functioning from outside of the industrial estate,” the minister said.
Monserrate, who also holds the revenue portfolio, said that comunidades should act against encroachments on their lands.
