THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary M V Govindan on Friday dismissed the reports of mass exodus of party workers in Kuttanad area in Alappuzha as media creation and said that the party was capable of managing organizational issues effectively.
“Nobody has left the party in Kuttanad. The party is capable of dealing with the issues, if any,” Govindan said after the party state secretariat meeting at AKG Centre, adding that the party would not shield anybody who has engaged in undesirable activities.
He was responding to questions regarding the infighting in CPM in Alappuzha. Govindan said the party was trying to send out a message that those who indulge in unacceptable practices would not go scot-free.
Govindan said only a few deviate from the party line and the CPM has the organizational strength to correct those who deviate. “Suspension of a cadre is an act against lack of vigilance. Nobody could be punished unless the charges against him/her are proved. Party is committed to conduct proper investigation into the complaints that come before it,” Govindan said.
Govindan refused to comment on the steps taken by the party on the complaint that LDF convener E P Jayarajan and family had made huge investment in an
ayurveda resort in Kannur.
He said it was the media that spoke about the complaint and he was not supposed to respond to such developments. Govindan reiterated that the CPM need not publicize its internal discussions and decisions.
“As far as CPM is concerned, the existence of a complaint or the absence of it makes no difference to the party. If there is a complaint, the party will look into it. I need not confirm or reject whether there was a complaint against E P Jayarajan,” he said.
Govindan said the CPM was not against private investment in the education sector. But such universities should function transparently. Private investment in the education sector and setting up of private universities are two different subjects, he added.
Govindan said the CPM had decided to organize an all-Kerala march from April 20 to March 18 against the alleged anti- people policies of the Union government and Sangh Parivar’s attempts to divide people on communal lines.
