Thiruvananthapuram: As part of strengthening protests against the anti-people policies of the LDF government, the Congress will lay siege to the Government Secretariat on May 4 . Over a lakh people will take part in the siege, which will be held from 7am to 5pm on the day.
A KPCC executive committee meeting on Thursday also decided to organize padayatras and house visits, starting from January 26, as part of the second leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra. The programme will conclude on March 20 and it will mark the beginning of the campaign for
Lok Sabha polls.
The Secretariat protest will seek to highlight the anti-people policies of the CPM-led government, drug mafia links of CPM leaders, the government’s failure in curtailing the price hike of essential commodities and the LDF-sponsored backdoor appointments in various departments, among other things.
The KPCC will launch a Rs 138 challenge to mobilize funds for the party. Those who want to contribute to the party fund can pay Rs 138 or more, for which a mobile application will be introduced.
