JAIPUR: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) started demolishing RPSC paper leak accused Bhupendra Saran's house in Rajni Vihar in the city on Friday evening following a favourable judgment from the authority's tribunal. Officials said that they had demolished 20% of the illegal structure on Friday and work would continue on Saturday.
The JDA tribunal gave the nod after hearing the petitions filed by the wives of paper leak accused Bhupendra Saran and his brother seeking relief.
"After 4pm, we started demolishing the front of the house as per the directions of the court. A 15-feet portion has been brought down. It will continue on Saturday morning. The court agreed that the two floors constructed above eight metres were illegal. So, these two floors of the four-storey building will be demolished," Raghuveer Saini, chief controller, JDA enforcement, said.
All precautions are being taken so that it does not affect nearby houses and the JDA-approved part of the building, he said. During the hearing, JDA said that this was not the case of a simple illegal construction and "it involves the future of thousands of unemployed people and their sentiments' '.
The JDA had inspected Saran's house on Tuesday and found that some portions of the building - balconies at the back and two storeys above the approved eight-metre height - were illegal. Earlier, on Monday, JDA had demolished a five-storey building housing the coaching institute operated by exam paper leak suspects.
