Berhampur: Research in Berhampur University are likely to get a boost as five major science research projects of three departments worth over Rs 2.10 crore have been approved by organizations of the Centre.
The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of the department of science and technology has approved the projects of three individual investigators of chemistry (Rs 45.67 lakh), physics (Rs 39.17) and zoology (Rs 37.27 lakh), while the board of research in nuclear sciences (BRNS), department of atomic energy and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the projects of physics (Rs 34.98 lakh) and zoology (Rs 52.69) departments respectively. All projects will run for three years. “We hope the research investigators of different departments will make breakthroughs through their works,” said Geetanjali Dash, vice- chancellor.
Apart from these major science research projects, several other projects of individual teachers of several other departments have also been approved by different government organizations, said the vice-chancellor.
A research project on nano-technology of Sukant Kumar Tripathy and Sidharth Panda of physics was approved by BRNS, while Laxmidhar Rout of chemistry got a research project from the SERB. tnn
