"Rick and Morty" creator Justin Roiland is accused of domestic violence. The case is related to an incident involving Roiland's girlfriend in 2020, according to reports.

The 42-year-old Roiland could face punishment up to 7 years in jail if found guilty, BBC reported.

Justin Roiland Domestic Violence Case

Orange County District Attorney in southern California had filed felony criminal charges in May 2020. However, Roiland that time pleaded not guilty to two charges. On Thursday, Roiland attended pre-trial hearing in the court.

According to reports, the incident allegedly occurred in January, 2020. Roiland was accused of domestic violence, corporal injury, fraud. Police complaint claimed that Roiland's violent actions were reason for "traumatic condition" of the woman.

In August 2020, Roiland was arrested but later released on $50,000 bond. In October 2020, he chose not to plead guilty.

Subsequently, a protective order was filed against Roiland. As per the protective order, Roiland was directed to maintain 100ft distance from the complainant, and warned him not to harass or issue any threat.

On Thursday, Roiland attended the court hearing. The next hearing is scheduled for April 27, 2023. Roiland has been directed to attend the hearing.
