2 labourers drown in Malaprabha left bank canal

BELAGAVI: Two persons drowned to death in the Malaprabha left bank canal between Toranagatti and Ujjinakoppa villages in Ramdurg taluk on Wednesday evening.
The bodies were fished out on Thursday evening after a long search by the police and fire brigade personnel. The deceased are Prakash Badakalur (22) and Vithal Katamalli (17) of Toranahalli village.
According to police sources, both were labourers. While returning from work, one person stepped into the canal for bathing and got dragged into the water.The other tried to save him and died.
The operation was held under the leadership of DySP Ramanagouda Hatti. The case has been registered in Ramdurg police station.
