Kanpur: A driver and his attendant were killed after their truck going from
Madhya Pradesh’s Morena to Muzaffarpur in Bihar lost control, collided with the divider and caught fire on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao district on Wednesday.
A police team and UPEIDA staff extinguished the fire in the truck and got it removed with the help of a crane. During this, the traffic was disrupted for about an hour.
The police identified the truck driver as Jasveer Singh (32) and attendant, Harveer Singh (55), both natives of Pura Bhadauria village in Bah tehsil of Agra district.
“They had left for Muzaffarpur in Bihar on Wednesday morning from Morena in Madhya Pradesh after loading the truck with some kind of consignment. The truck however crashed into a divider at around 2 am, on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway near Gauria Kala village of Behtamujwar police station area and caught fire,” said police further.
Police and UPEIDA personnel reached on the information and extinguished the fire with the help of the fire brigade and took the injured to Auras’s Primary Health Center, where the doctor declared the two dead.
Police station in charge Rameshchandra Sahni said that the truck caught fire due to the short-circuit probably after crashing into the divider. “The post-mortem of the dead bodies has been done,” he added.
