LUCKNOW: The rise in mercury levels by a few degrees on Thursday brought some relief from the 'cold wave' and 'cold day' conditions prevailing for the past 10 days, but the temperatures continued below normal. Dense fog is expected on Friday & Saturday.
According to the Met department, the relief will continue till Sunday but dense to very dense fog in the morning hours is expected in the terai belt and east UP districts on Nepal border on Friday. Dense fog is expected in many parts of the state, including Lucknow, on Saturday.
The minimum temperature in the city on Thursday was 6.8 degrees Celsius, 0.8 units below normal, and the maximum temperature was 18.1 degrees Celsius, 3.2 units below normal. Friday morning would be foggy followed by partly cloudy sky during the day. Maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 18 and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Met officials said the change in weather conditions is because of a western disturbance active over the
Himalayas.
Under its influence, temperatures are likely to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius till Sunday, but thereafter there will be a gradual fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius.
