Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Friday at 10:40AM

Jyoti Structures(up 4.82%), Transmission(up 1.84%), Karma Energy(up 1.72%), RTNPOWER(up 1.30%), Gujarat Industries Power(up 0.64%), KPI Green Energy(up 0.59%), Indowind Energy(up 0.48%), DPSC(up 0.39%), Adani Transmissions(up 0.37%) and Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.37%) were among the top gainers.

Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 3.44%), CESC(down 1.86%), Inox Wind Energy(down 1.69%), Energy Development Company(down 1.59%), JSW Energy(down 1.41%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 1.38%), Alstom T&D India(down 1.12%), GE Power India Limited(down 1.01%), Voltamp Transformers(down 1.01%) and Torrent Power(down 0.82%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 40.8 points down at 17817.4, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 188.64 points at 59769.39 at around 10:40AM.

Tata Steel(up 2.92%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.03%), JSW Steel(up 0.96%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 0.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.85%), Divis Laboratories(up 0.75%), Hindalco Industries(up 0.65%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.57%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.55%) and Maruti Suzuki(up 0.5%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HCL Technologies(down 1.52%), Larsen & Toubro(down 1.36%), Wipro(down 1.34%), Asian Paints(down 1.14%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.09%), Enterprises(down 1.03%), Reliance Industries(down 0.94%), Axis Bank(down 0.82%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.72%) and Bajaj Finserv(down 0.7%) were trading in the red.
