The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Wednesday arrested five men, including two criminals on police records, for creating terror during an urus (fair) at Chandkhed village in Maval taluka.
PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Wednesday arrested five men, including two criminals on police records, for creating terror during an urus (fair) at Chandkhed village in Maval taluka.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when one of the accused fired two rounds in the air. The gang members also smashed the windscreens of a few cars and damaged luggage at a tamasha theatre. The police have recovered two country-made pistols.
Sub-inspector Balwant Gavit of the Shirgaon police said criminal on the records Avinash Gothe (22) and four of his accomplices had reached the urus on Tuesday night. "They all of a sudden started damaging parked vehicles and even damaged a few bags in the tamasha theatre. Gothe then took out a country-made pistol and fired two rounds in the air," Gavit said. After arrest, the court sent them to police custody till January 16.
