Ranchi district police recovered a rifle and cartridges following an exchange of fire with the extremists in a forest near Chaingada village under Budmu police station area on Thursday.
RANCHI: Ranchi district police recovered a rifle and cartridges following an exchange of fire with the extremists in a forest near Chaingada village under Budmu police station area on Thursday.
The police said a quick reaction team, led by Khelari deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Animesh Naithani, was conducting a search operation when the extremists opened fire on them. There was a heavy exchange of fire for about 20 minutes after which the extremists fled from the spot.
DSP Naithani said, "Preliminary information indicates that the Tritya Prastuti Committee members were involved in the incident. Search operation is underway."
