CM: Have asked to verify if ‘Santro’ Ravi is BJP worker
Hubballi / Chikkamagaluru / Udupi: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said he has given instructions to verify if KS Manjunath alias ‘Santro’ Ravi is a BJP worker.
He was reacting to former state Congress president and MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao, who had alleged that ‘Santro’ Ravi was a BJP worker. In a tweet, Rao said: “Santro Ravi himself claimed that he is a BJP worker. Such people can only exist in the BJP. Cheaters, greedy people, bribe-takers, and sexual predators abound in the BJP. What moral rights do the hypocritical BJP leaders have to talk about culture, customs, and ideas?”
Hitting back at him, Bommai said, “The Congress is politically bankrupt. Dinesh knows well what kind of people are in his party. I won’t stoop to his level. The Congress is a gateway to dirty politics. Let them keep their house in order first.”
BJP national general secretary CT Ravi claimed in Hassan that ‘Santro’ Ravi is not an active member of the party. “Our government will not protect any criminals. The party will never compromise with such people and will initiate legal action against him,” he added.
Bail hearing adjourned
In Mysuru, the sixth additional district and sessions court, which is hearing ‘Santro’ Ravi’s pre-arrest bail petition, adjourned the hearing to January 17. Ravi filed the petition on January 6 after two cases were filed against him on January 2.
Police team visits Udupi
The Mysuru police probing the ‘Santro’ Ravi case had reportedly visited Hebri Udupi district. A senior police official said the Mysuru police had some leads, they came to Hebri on Tuesday and have returned.
A lookout circular has been issued against Manjunath to prevent his escape from the country.
