Korean shutterbug falls into drain, hurt
Bhubaneswar: A Korean photographer, who is in Bhubaneswar to cover the Men’s Hockey World Cup-2023, fell into an open drain near Khandagiri on Wednesday.
He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital after he injured his legs.
The photographer, Park Sang Myun from South Korea, fell into the drain in Dumduma as there was no slab covering it. He failed to detect it as he was engrossed in taking photographs. He could not be contacted.
Rasmi Ranjan Pattshani, corporator of ward no. 65, said he will raise the issue in the BMC meeting and request the government to sanction a project to cover the open drains with slabs in his area. “We will ensure that such incidents do not recur,” he added.
Bhubaneswar municipal corporation commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange said, “I am verifying the facts and will let you know the details after that”.
At least seven people have died in the last seven years after falling into open drains in the city.
