JAIPUR: A five-year-old girl while returning from a mass feast was raped by a 53-year-old man in Bharatpur on Wednesday. The girl has sustained injuries and being treated at a hospital. The police have arrested the accused on Thursday.
According to police, the family of the girl on Wednesday evening said that their daughter along with other children of the locality had gone to participate in the mass feast in a locality under Udyog Nagar police station area in a four-wheeler engaged in supplying of water campers.
“As the driver of the four-wheeler was known to the family and he too was going in the mass feast with his wife, the father of the girl had sent his daughter and 10-year-old son with him and asked him to bring them back after the feast. When they were returning one man identified as Abhay Raj who also lives in the same village also boarded the vehicle. During this he put the girl on his lap and covered her with shawl and raped her,” said a senior police officer while quoting the FIR lodged by the family of the girl on Thursday.
In the four-wheeler mostly children of the village were sitting, and no elders were with them except the accused Raj. “As the girl returned home, she narrated her plight, and she was bleeding as well. She was hospitalised. In the investigation so far, it is found that unnatural sex was done with her by Raj,” said Shyam Singh, superintendent of police, Bharatpur.
“Her condition is stated to be out of danger. We have lodged a case under appropriate sections of POCSO Act. Since the driver of the four-wheeler did not realise that the accused was raping the girl while sitting on the backseat, the accused after reaching a destination vanished,” Singh added.
