NEW DELHI: The ministry of home affairs (MHA) has taken cognizance of the Kanjhawala incident, in which a woman's body was dragged for several kilometers by a car after it hit her scooter.
The MHA has received a detailed report from the Delhi Police and has suggested several actions to be taken in response to the incident.
Accused Ashustosh Bharadwaj's bail plea rejected in Delhi hit-and-drag caseAccording to the MHA, the Delhi Police commissioner should suspend the police personnel deployed in three PCRs and at two police pickets and take disciplinary action against them.
The MHA has also suggested that the Delhi Police commissioner issue a show-cause notice against the investigation officer, considering the lack of investigation in the case.
Furthermore, the MHA has urged the Delhi Police to file a chargesheet against the culprits in court at the earliest and to take all necessary steps to ensure that they are punished.

Police had arrested Deepak Khanna (26), Amit Khanna (25), Krishan (27), Mithun (26), and Manoj Mittal in the case on January 2.

Later, they zeroed in on Ashutosh, who was arrested four days later.
All accused were remanded in 14 days’ judicial custody on Monday.
The victim was killed in the early hours of the new year day after her scooter was hit by a car, which dragged her for more than 12 kilometres from Sultanpur to Kanjhawala.
