Mangaluru: Police have arrested 10 persons, including medical students and an overseas citizen of India staying in Mangaluru for more than a decade, on charges of ganja-peddling and consumption. The accused, including four women, have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Mangaluru City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said on Wednesday that the accused are from four colleges. Based on a tip-off, a CCB team led by inspector Shyam Sundar HM arrested Neel Kishorilal Ramji Shah, 38, possessing UK citizenship, from an apartment at Bunts Hostel Road here on January 7.
Shah, who was picked up for possession of ganja, has been in Mangaluru for 15 years and claims to be a fourth-year student at a dental college. Police recovered 2kg ganja worth Rs 50,000, two cellphones, a toy pistol, a dagger, Rs 7,000 and a digital weighing scale.
