Man gets 20-year jail for raping minor in Panipat

KARNAL: A fast track court (POCSO) in Panipat district sentenced a man to 20-year imprisonment for raping a five-year-old girl in 2019.
Sikandar, a native of Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, had been residing in Shiv Nagar in Panipat at the time of the incident.
Additional sessions judge Sukhpreet Singh also slapped Rs 50,000 fine on the convict.
As per the police investigation, the incident took place at a locality in Panipat on June 14, 2019 when the victim was alone in her house.
In her complaint, victims’ mother had alleged that on June 14, 2019, they had gone out of home and the accused raped her daughter after finding her alone. When she returned, the girl narrated her ordeal.
Following this, the police had arrested the accused after registering an FIR at Chandni Bagh police station.
