Constable’s son drowns in water-filled pit near house
Kanpur: A two-year-old son of a constable, Harshit, drowned after falling into a water-filled pit at Ekta colony in Etawah on Wednesday.
Sonu Chowdhary, a native of Mathura, posted in the Reserve police line lives in a rented accommodation in Ekta Colony with his family. His wife Kavita is unwell from past few days.
Sonu said that he was preparing breakfast and getting ready to leave for Police Lines for work on Wednesday morning, when his younger son Harshit went missing. After some time, a frantic search was launched. Later, Harshit was found in a water-filled pit adjacent to his house.
Subsequently, the boy was rushed to the district hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Additional superintendent of police Kapil Deo Singh, however, said, “I have asked Friends Colony Police station incharge to collect details about the incident to ascertain under what circumstances the child drowned in the pit.”
