Snag hits rly services at Ranchi station
Ranchi: Railway services at Ranchi railway division remained paralysed for three hours on Wednesday after an overhead equipment (OHE) wire snapped between Ranchi and Namkum railway stations.
Four express trains made delayed start from Ranchi, while four passenger trains were short-terminated at Namkum. One passenger train was cancelled.
“At around 11.30 am, it was spotted that the OHE wire of the section between Ranchi and Namkum had snapped and resulted in a power outage. An overhead wagon was sent for carrying out the repairs. The OHE was restored after three hours and after necessary safety checks, railway services resumed,” an official in Ranchi said. An electric railway engine draws power from the OHE wire through pantograph (overhead equipment mounted on the roof of the engine).
The division, in a statement, said Ranchi–Howrah Shatabdi Express, Ranchi – Dumka Intercity Express, Hatia–Anand Vihar Swarna Jayanti Express and Ranchi–Patna Jan Shatabdi Express made delayed start from Ranchi. TNN
