Cantonment police take accused into custody
Thiruvananthapuram: The Cantonment police on Wednesday took Syamlal, Divya Jyothi and Abhilash into custody for interrogation in the Titanium job fraud case.
The sixth additional district sessions court approved the custody application moved by the Cantonment police on Wednesday by granting them in custody for two days.
Divya Jyothi is the first accused in the nine cases registered by the Cantonment police on the complaints of several candidates, who were cheated by the accused offering jobs at Travancore Titanium Products Limited (TTPL). Syamlal, the mastermind behind the crime, is the fourth accused in the case. The Kuriyathi resident Abhilash introduced two candidates to Divya Jyothi. The candidates transferred lakhs of rupees to the account of Divya Jyothi and Abhilash received commission for it.
“Since this is a cheating case, evidence collection is very crucial, and our focus will be to get as much evidence as possible in these two days. During the interrogation, Syamlal, who was arrested from Chennai, had denied his involvement in the fraud; but there were some contradictions in his statements. Our focus will be on that,” the police said.
Meanwhile, the sixth additional district sessions court will consider the anticipatory bail application moved by Sasikumaran Thampi, AGM (legal) at TTPL, in connection with the three cases registered at Cantonment police station on Thursday.
On Tuesday, two of his bail applications were rejected by the court in connection with the cases registered at the Woman police station and Cantonment station.
Poojappura, Venjaramoodu, Museum and Woman police have also moved the custody applications of the accused in connection with the other cases registered.
