EV transition to be faster than we thought: Chandra
Greater Noida: Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said Wednesday the share of electrics in India's automotive market was growing much faster than previously anticipated, the statement coinciding with the company unveiling a slew of green offerings in both the passenger and commercial segments.
“I truly believe that transition to electric mobility in India will happen much faster than what we are imagining. We have a number of products lined up in this space. These products will surely be very exciting for the customers,” Chandrasekaran said, adding that India needed to move swiftly towards greener and sustainable mobility to meet climate goals.
He said that there wouldn't be any let-up in Tata Motors' investments in the EV space. “Our investments will be significant so that we can accelerate to electrics, and also give our customers world-class products, both in terms of driving comfort and a digital experience. The interiors and technology that will help consumers enormously will be on par with world-class standards."
Chandrasekaran said Tata Motors aims to achieve a target of "net zero emissions" by 2045. “We are leading sustainability, energy transition and digitalization-led transformation in each of our businesses. With emphasis on zero emission powertrains, cutting-edge technologies, advanced design engineering and best-in-class services, Tata Motors is accelerating the adoption of sustainable mobility and net zero carbon-emission goals. At the Auto Expo 2023, we are happy to present our vision of the future and its manifestation through our new-age vehicles, concepts and smart mobility solutions."
In commercial vehicles, the company unveiled as many as 14 exclusive vehicles and concepts, representing one of the country's greenest, connected, advanced range of logistics and mass-mobility solutions. These have been powered by natural gas, electric and hydrogen. Girish Wagh, Director of Tata Motors, said through the sustainable CVs, the company was leading the global megatrend of sustainable, connected and safer mobility.
