In a bid to bolster visitors to the region during the on and off-peak seasons, Muskoka Tourism has partnered with a tourism consulting firm and received feedback from tourism stakeholders to develop a three-year plan.

The 2023 plan will foster collaboration with tourism stakeholders, introduce new media placement, assemble market research and grow exposure for the region. The Annual Plan was approved by the Muskoka Tourism Board of Directors on December 21, 2022.

Val Hamilton, Muskoka Tourism executive director, whose appointment was made during the approval of the plan said, “So we’re actually putting four times more marketing in 2023 compared to 2019.” She added, “We really need to ensure we’re increasing our marketing exposure, and we’re going to do that by having more tactical campaigns.”

By 2025 when Muskoka Tourism plans to revisit its strategic plan, it hopes to see significant growth throughout the year in the number of visitors and economically.

Muskoka Tourism has two new Board Members, Brenda Rhodes and Peter Johnston who were appointed by District Council in December 2022.

The District Municipality of Muskoka, more generally referred to as the District of Muskoka or Muskoka, is a regional municipality in Central Ontario, Canada.
