Ajith fans rush to secure ticket for special show; police chase them away

Coimbatore: Tense moments prevailed at Archana-Dharshana cinema theatre complex at RS Puram in the early hours of Wednesday, when hundreds of people thronged its premises for the special show of Ajith Kumar-starrer Thunivu at 1am.
A large number of fans flocked to the theatre to secure a ticket for the show. In the melee, a glass door of the theatre and handrails were broken.
When the theatre management alerted, police reached the spot and chased away the crowd. They used mild force to disperse the Ajith fans, who were reluctant to leave the theatre premises. Police then streamlined the crowd and allowed in only those with valid tickets.
Vijay-starrer Varisu was also screened in the complex later. A large number of Vijay fans turned up to watch the Pongal release. Police were deployed on the theatre premises to prevent any chaos.
All the cinema halls in the city witnessed huge crowds on Wednesday, as Ajith and Vijay fans wanted to see the movie of their favourite stars on the first day of release itself. Theatre employees had a difficult time running the shows. Police were deployed at the theatres to prevent clashes between the Ajith and Vijay fans. tnn
