NOIDA: The body of a 22-year-old woman was found in a pool of blood at a flat locked from the outside in Bishanpura village of Noida earlier this week, according to police, who said that her family suspects that her husband killed her after an argument with her.
Cops said that Anjali's husband Suraj, a native of Azamgarh, has not been seen for the past week.
Based on the family's complaint, Suraj has been booked by police under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
"Anjali married Suraj four years ago and the couple has a one and a half year old son who was staying with his maternal grandmother at the time. The woman's family have submitted a written complaint alleging that Suraj killed Anjali seven days back at their home and fled the spot," said Vivek Trivedi, the station house officer (SHO) of Sector 58 police station.
Cops said a resident of the area called them around 1am on Tuesday after noticing foul smell emanating from the house and traces of blood.
"A police team along with officials of the forensics department reached the spot and found the flat locked. The team broke the lock and found a woman's body on the floor. There was a gash on her head," the station house officer said, adding that a post-mortem report is awaited.
Trivedi said teams are working to trace Suraj, whose mobile phone has been switched off for the past week.
