Woman killed, others injured in clash over dog

Varanasi: A woman- Lalmuni Bind (50) was killed while several others suffered injuries when two groups clashed in a dispute over a dog, in Nai Basti Gagauli area under the limits Bairiya police station in Ballia district on Tuesday night.
Two persons were arrested by Bairiya police in this connection while one was absconding, said sub-inspector Atul Mishra.
Initial investigation revealed that the pet dog of Lalmuni’s neighbour Shivsagar Bind chased her when she was outside. She somehow reached her home and reported the matter to her family members after which they reached Shivsagar’s place to complain about the incident.
Both the groups entered into an argument and after an exchange of heated words they clashed. In brick batting by Shivsagar’s family many persons were injured while Lalmuni suffered grave head injuries.
Initially she was rushed to a local hospital from where doctors referred her to district hospital in view of sharp deterioration in her health condition. She died during the course of treatment. Later, her family lodged a named FIR against three persons. Shivsagar and his son Azad were arrested while one other is absconding, said police.
Heavy police force remained deployed in the area on Wednesday morning.
