Ludhiana: Following the arrest of a deputy superintendent of police and his wife for allegedly duping Police Police aspirants, the Ludhiana police will make DSP’s personal security officer to join the investigation suspecting his involvement in the fraud.
The police said both the DSP and his wife are blaming each other for heading the nexus of duping youngsters on the pretext of getting them recruited in Punjab Police. Further, the city police also found that a complaint against DSP was also received by the Jagraon police with the same allegations and he was summoned too for an inquiry.
The CIA-II of Ludhiana police commissionerate on Monday had arrested DSP Narpinder Singh, posted as deputy superintendent at Mansa Jail, and his wife Deep Kiran of Sector 39, Jamalpur for duping police aspirants on the pretext of getting jobs. Their two accomplices Sukhdev Singh of Sahnewal and Lakhwinder Singh of Mandi Gobindgarh are being traced. The police had seized three police uniforms, two forged joining letters, 10 Punjab Police recruitment forms, besides cash from them. The police officials said Deep Kiran used to impersonate as a judge to lure the aspirants.
Inspector Beant Juneja, in-charge, CIA-II, said, “Both Deep Kiran and DSP Narpinder are blaming each other for running the nexus. While Narpinder says that he was unaware that Deep Kiran duped anyone on the pretext of getting a job, Deep Kiran said Narpinder used to get the cash from the aspirants and she would get only some amount for her expenses. During the interrogation, name of Narpinder’s PSO also came up and it is suspected that he was involved in picking cash or collecting recruitment forms etc. The police are making him join the investigation.”
Juneja said, “In this case, the arrest of absconding accused Lakhwinder and Sukhdev is also curial because as per the investigation they used to lure the aspirants and made them meet the couple. The police are trying to trace them.”
On asking if the accused couple made the aspirants appear in any genuine written or physical exam, the inspector said, “Nothing sort of this has come into our knowledge during the probe. The accused woman would make aspirants stay at her house and would provide them best hospitality, would make them visit the jail and make them try uniforms and that is all.”
The police uniforms which were seized were allegedly arranged by Narpinder, police said.
The official also said the DSP about a month back had joined an inquiry against him marked on the complaint of a Jagraon-based aspirant for duping him with the same modus operandi. Further, the city police on Tuesday had gone to Mansa to search the house of DSP.
