PANAJI: The Anjuna police have arrested five workers from Bihar for brutally assaulting and critically injuring an AC technician, Wasim Shaikh, from Mumbai on Monday night.
The five accused were under the influence of alcohol, according to the complaint.
The accused were arrested while they were trying to flee Goa and have been booked for attempt to murder. Those arrested, by teams formed under PI Prashal Desai, are Deepak Paswan, Roshan Paswan, Dishkant Paswan, Kishan Paswan, and Sumit Kumar Shah.
The victim’s friend Sohail Shaikh complained to the police that while he and fellow AC technician Wasim were at a construction site, late on Monday night, the workers from Bihar, under the influence of alcohol, came towards them and one of the workers started vomiting.
SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi said that Wasim questioned the workers over the behaviour when all of them assaulted Sohail and Wasim with fist blows and kicks.
