Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.09% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded positive around 11:01AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.

Punjab National Bank(up 0.91 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 0.68 per cent), HDFC Bank(up 0.49 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.48 per cent) and ICICI Bank(up 0.02 per cent) were among the top gainers.

AU Small Finance Bank(down 0.94 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 0.77 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 0.44 per cent), Federal Bank(down 0.33 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.25 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was up 0.09 per cent at 42052.25 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 20.7 points at 17893.45, while the BSE Sensex was down 34.37 points at 60081.11.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, IOB, , PNB and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Generic Engg, Ltd., , Sky Gold and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while , All E Technologies Ltd., , . and MT Educare hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
