Assam BJP discusses strategy for LS polls & G20 meetings
Guwahati: The top brass of the Assam unit of the ruling BJP, in a core committee meeting on Tuesday, discussed the strategies for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the G20 meetings, which will be held in Guwahati and Dibrugarh in Assam.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said the core committee meeting covered the subjects of the roadmap for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, groundwork to be done and regarding the G20 meetings as five meetings will be held in Guwahati and Dibrugarh.
Guwahati and Dibrugarh are among the 50 cities in India where the G20 meetings will be held.
He said, “The party has discussed the plan to organize a few meetings or symposiums in the state related to the G20 meetings. Moreover, discussion was also held on the national executive to be held in New Delhi on January 15 and 16 and the state executive in Morigaon on January 24.”
Meanwhile, the state president of the party, Bhabesh Kalita, said, “The party has strengthened its base across the state over the years after it came to power in 2016. We believe there is still a lot to do to strengthen the base in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The discussion was held basically on the roadmap for the election.”
The party has not faced defeat in any elections in the state since 2016. Apart from the assembly elections, it won the autonomous council elections, civic body elections and panchayat elections in the state and is confident of winning all 14 Lok Sabha seats in 2024.
