Home alone woman found charred to death
Mandya: A home alone woman was found dead in Marasinganahalli village of Maddur taluk of Mandya district.
The deceased is Prema, 42 and her body was found charred. She was living alone in the house after her husband’s death. The couple’s son is a software engineer and works in Bengaluru, police said.
On Monday night, she had slept alone in the house. At 5am the next day, neighbours noticed smoke from the one-bedroom house and opened the door. They saw Prema dead and her body charred. They alerted police, who rushed to the spot and sent the body to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences, Maddur police circle inspector Manoj Kumar said.
Mandya SP N Yatish visited the spot.
Probe into cause if death
Police said they are verifying how Prema died. It is suspected that she was set on fire after her death as the neighbours did not hear anything suspicious. A case has been registered at Besagarahalli police station.
