GURUGRAM: A 30-year-old woman and her fiance were allegedly thrashed by two bouncers at a prominent pub in Sector 29 in the early hours of Tuesday. Anjali, a resident of the city, said the incident took place around 2am when she was leaving Striker pub with her fiance Chetan, who lives in Delhi.
In her complaint, Anjali alleged that a club bouncer attacked her fiance without any provocation, and then she was attacked by another female bouncer when she tried to intervene. Both of them were treated at a city hospital for some bruises, the FIR said.
The pub's management, however, denied that its bouncers beat up the couple.
"It all started when my fiance was clearing the bill. A male bouncer started thrashing him without any reason. When I went there to intervene, a female bouncer stopped me, overpowered me and thrashed me too... We were punched on the face, dragged out of the pub and threatened," the complainant said.
"Aaj ke baad yahan mat dikh jana (You shouldn't be seen here again)," the FIR quotes one of the bouncers as saying to the couple.
Though the complaint does not have any names, Anjali said she can recognise the accused bouncers if she sees them. A partner at Striker, Harsh Dutt said the allegations were "baseless".
Dutt said the pub was supposed to close for the day when the couple demanded that drinks be served to them.
"Our staff waited for more than 25 minutes and requested the couple to leave the club as it was closing time. When the duo picked an altercation, our bouncers just asked them to leave. The female bouncer helped the woman and our male bouncer helped the man go outside. No one was manhandled," Dutt said.
"We are cooperating with the probe and giving police access to CCTV footage of the entire matter," he added. Investigating officer Rakesh Kumar said cops are going through the video clips to ascertain the sequence of events.
"No arrests have been made so far. We got to know about the incident after the complainant reached the DLF Sector 29 police station and handed over a written complaint. Our team took them to Civil Hospital for treatment. We have registered a case and started an investigation," Kumar said. The accused have been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
