PANAJI: Opposition leader Yuri Alemao has demanded a high-level inquiry into the Pilerne fire under a retired high court judge, after he visited the area on Wednesday morning.
A high level inquiry committee, Alemao tweeted, must be given a mandate also to check the compliances of various units in all industrial estates of Goa with respect to safety, security,
pollution and their readiness in disaster management.
Pilerne fire, he said, is an "eye-opener and the Goa CM must stop event management.
“I had cautioned the government in the last assembly session about the time bomb ticking at Cuncolim industrial estate due to the negligence of the authorities towards illegalities of various units,” the opposition leader said.
