RANCHI: Jharkhand's tableau depicting the famous Babadham temple in Deoghar is among the 16 representations of states and Union territories which have been selected for the Republic Day parade in New Delhi. The state will participate after seven years.
The state's blueprint for the parade has attempted to portray the temple's model. The tableau would have a statue of Birsa Munda in the front. Adivasi art Sohrai would be shown at the side panel, while traditional dance 'Paika' would be presented along with the tableau, the state IPR department said on Tuesday.
The selected states and UTs have to ready their tableaus by January 19 and participate in a rehearsal on January 23.
Notably, Jharkhand has showcased its tableau during the R-Day parade only four times. In 2015, its tableau based on historic terracotta temples in Maluti in Dumka district bagged the second prize. In 2013, the state presented a Dokra art-themed tableau. It showcased Birsa Munda when it debuted at the R-Day parade in 2004. The state did not send any proposal in 2021. The suggestion based on Santhal Hul in 2022 was rejected.
