The movement of heavy vehicles will remain banned near India Expo Mart, where the event will go on till January 18.
NOIDA: The traffic police have created a parking facility for visitors to the auto expo starting from Wednesday at the NASA (National Academy For Statistical Administration) ground and planned different routes to the venue from Noida, Delhi, Ghaziabad and Agra.
The movement of heavy vehicles will remain banned near India Expo Mart, where the event will go on till January 18.
Ganesh Prasad Saha, the deputy commissioner of police, Gautam Budh Nagar, said that people travelling from Delhi and Noida need to take Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. “Near Galgotias College, traffic cops will guide them to take a left turn to reach the NASA ground parking. Visitors can also find the parking zone on Google Maps,” he said. The expo organiser will provide carts from the parking to reach the venue.
The NASA ground can accommodate nearly 10,000 four-wheelers at a time. The traffic cops said that if the number of vehicles increases, visitors can use the vacant lanes outside academic institutions in Knowledge Park for temporary parking.
In 2020, before the pandemic struck, the expo recorded 6,08,526 visitors. The organisers expect a similar footfall this year.
Ashutosh Singh, the Noida traffic inspector, said that nearly 400 traffic police officers will remain deployed near the venue and on the roads to facilitate vehicle movement. “Quick response teams will stay deployed on the highways and expressways. The teams will get loudhailers to make suitable announcements. We have also made traffic plans for separate entry and exit gates of vehicles at the auto expo,” he said.
Traffic cops will guide visitors from Ghaziabad on NH-24 towards Kisan Chowk in Greater Noida West and then Bisrakh, Surajpur and the Sharda University roundabout till they reach the parking venue.
Similarly, people from Agra and Mathura taking Yamuna Expressway will take a left turn at the Galgotias College to reach the parking venue.
Traffic cops will also guide people taking Eastern Peripheral Expressway towards the Sirsa roundabout and Kasna, the P-3 roundabout, and then the parking.
A heavy traffic presence is likely on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway during the weeklong event. The traffic police advised daily commuters to use alternative routes.
The police team will use cranes to remove illegally-parked vehicles near the venue. A helpline number is also out--9971009001-- and could be used to get directions to India Expo Mart or report traffic-related issues.
On January 11 and 12, the auto expo is for the media, followed by a business day (January 13). It will open to the public on January 14. People can visit till January 18.
