Lucknow Development Authority seals hotel whose owner played loud music, torched complainant's car

LUCKNOW: Lucknow Development Authority sealed hotel Milano and Cafe in Vishal Khand of Gomtinagar a day after its owner allegedly torched the car of an Army Major for objecting to loud music being played at the hotel. The LDA swung into action only after the police reported the matter to the authorities, while it was functional for a long time.
LDA officials said that when their team visited the hotel it found several irregularities in the construction because of which the hotel was issued a show cause notice. Major Abhijeet Singh, who lives near Hotel Milano and Cafe, complained to the police on Sunday night after hearing high-decibel music and people screaming at the roof of the hotel.

Major Singh, is a part of a UN troop deployed in Sudan and came recently to see his parents, told TOI that after waiting for hours he asked people who were playing loud music to lower the volume, but they refused, and an argument ensued.
Later, the music was stopped following police intervention, but the miscreants warned him for consequence. On Monday late night, they set fire to his car parked outside his house.
LDA zonal officer, Arun Kumar Singh, said, "After complaints received from the police department, our team went and found that commercial activities were still taking place in a residential area in the hotel."
"They were asked to present a map of the hotel; the owner could not provide it. We have checked some illegal construction being done in the hotel," he said.
"Thus, we sealed the hotel and issued a notice to the owner to present a map of the building within two days otherwise further action will be taken," he added while saying that the team of LDA officers will conduct a survey to find such illegally operating hotels in the city."
The police teams, meanwhile, are still hunting for Rahul Sharma, the owner of the hotel. "Teams have been formed to arrest the accused," said Syed Abbas Ali, ACP East Zone.
