Joshimath land subsidence: Hotel owner's family demands compensation

Owner of Malari Hotel and his family members sat outside their hotel on Jan 11 in Joshimath. They are demanding compensation against demolition of the hotel. Their hotel and over 600 houses are set to be demolished in Joshimath, Chamoli, Uttarakhand due to land subsidence. The buildings have developed cracks and have been identified unsafe by the government. Hotel owner T Singh Rana said, "My son lives in France, I can go anywhere but I'm sitting here for the people of Joshimath."
