HUBBALLI: Roads are being redone and walls painted in Hubballi as the city gears up to receive Prime Minister
Narendra Modi. The PM is scheduled to launch the National Youth Festival in the city on Thursday.
Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, who held a meeting with officials to review preparations, said the Yuvajanotsava is being organised for the first time in North Karnataka. Youngsters from 28 states and eight Union territories will participate.
“PM Modi’s visit is very important for us as he has introduced many schemes for the upliftment of youth in the country,” Bommai said. “The PM will inaugurate the Yuvajanotsava at Railway Sports Ground, deliver a speech and witness the march past. As many as 7,000 youths from various parts of the county and around 25,000 to 30,000 youths will take part in the function. ”
Since events will be held at different venues, arrangements to transport competitors and provide food and water is being worked out. Bommai said the event will help boost the image of Karnataka and Dharwad.
Sources say the PM’s security detail visited the venue and roads through which his convoy will pass.
HDMC has removed construction debris of ongoing flyover work on Hosur Road. For the past three days, HDMC officials have been cleaning Gokul Road using earthmovers. The stretch near the railway ground has been asphalted.
Shankaranand Banashankari, HDMC additional commissioner (revenue), said preparations are in full swing.
