Director Anik Dutta was rushed to a Dhakuria hospital on Tuesday after he faced difficulty in breathing. The filmmaker has a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and had been suffering from a cold for the last few days. On Sunday, Dutta attended an award ceremony where his film Aparajito bagged several awards. On Monday, his health deteriorated as he faced breathing difficulties. According to hospital sources, the director who is admitted to the ICU has a chest infection. However, his condition has stabilised since his admission. Several people from the industry took to social media to wish the director a speedy recovery. On Tuesday evening actress Sreelekha Mitra shared on social media that Dutta is doing a lot better.

Post the release of his critically acclaimed film Aparajito, Dutta has been working on his new film, Joto Kando Kolkatay, featuring Abir Chatterjee and Madhumita Sarcar. Meanwhile, Aparajito — a film centred around Aparajito Ray, a young filmmaker modelled on Satyajit Ray — bagged a prestigious international award recently and also became a box office hit.
