Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has drawn up a massive plan to keep the surroundings of Kalinga Stadium clean.
It has divided the stadium into eight zones (based on areas for players, delegates, officials and public as well as gallery and all entry and exit gates) to deploy the sanitation teams.
An assistant health officer level officer has been entrusted the task of overall supervision of sanitation inside the stadium throughout the event.
It has been decided that all the sanitary staff will report to the officer from time to time regarding cleanliness work.
Different private agencies have been assigned specific work and machinery, based on which cleanliness work will be taken up at regular intervals. Out of 100 sanitary workers, 20 will be deployed exclusively for housekeeping. As many as 12 waste collectors will be deployed inside the stadium and they will exit through the designated gate, said a BMC officer.
In November, the BMC had cleared 1552 metric tonne of green and construction and demolition (C&D) garbage from Kalinga Stadium. The cleaning paved way for beautification work taken up for the event.
Huge water sprinklers from the fire services department are being used to sprinkle water on trees located around and near the stadium to restore the green look. The newly created parking
space towards Behera Sahi end has been completed while the road to the parking area has been widened and beautified.
In addition, fogging will be taken up daily around the stadium. The natural drainage channel passing through Behera Sahi (behind the stadium) often turns into a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Fogging will be carried out on the stadium’s periphery areas while drones will also be used for spraying anti-larva chemicals.
