Ex-CM should have opted for Varuna: Dhruvanarayana
Mysuru: A day after former CM Siddaramaiah announced that he will contest from Kolar assembly segment, KPCC working president R Dhruvanarayana on Tuesday said the senior Congress leader should have opted for Varuna, which would help the party candidates in Mysuru .
While he said Siddaramaiah is a mass leader who can contest from any part of the state, he said it would help if the former CM opts to contest from Varuna in Mysuru district.
Dhruvanarayana, who has sought a ticket to contest from Nanjangud, said Siddaramaiah contesting from Varuna would help galvanise the party cadres in Mysuru region. Varuna segment abuts Nanjangud constituency.
He indicated that the option for Siddaramaiah to contest from two segments including Varuna is open.
Siddaramaiah had shifted to Varuna, which is spread over Mysuru, Nanjangud and T Narsipur taluks after the constituency was created after the delimitation exercise in 2008 and won. He was re-elected in 2013 and became CM. In 2018, he got back to the Chamundeshwari segment but lost, while winning in Badami.
Since he started his political career five decades back, Siddaramaiah had contested from Chamundeshwari seven times and has won five times. TNN
