Greater Noida: Copper wires worth lakhs of rupees were allegedly stolen from inside a power transformer at Chithera village in Greater Noida on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
“We received the information about the incident at around 7.30am on Monday, following which a team from Dadri police station rushed to the spot and inspected the site. They found that copper plates and wires from the transformer were missing. The electricity department was informed and an investigation has been launched,” Umesh Bahadur Singh, SHO of Dadri police station said.
Locals informed the cops that the power had tripped once for a few minutes at around 1am after which the supply was back, hence none of the villagers suspected anything wrong.
