Bachhu Yadav’s discharge plea turned down
Ranchi: The special PMLA court rejected the discharge petition of Bachhu Yadav in illegal mining and money laundering case on Monday. Yadav is a close associate of Pankaj Mishra who is chief minister Hemant Soren’s representative from Barhait and an accused in the case.
The court said that it is evident that there is sufficient material available on record against the petitioner for framing the charges under section 3 and 4 of the PMLA Act. The court in its remarks also stated that from the face of the case, it is apparent that the proceeds of crime have been found from the petitioner and it is also alleged that he is knowingly involved in connected activities.
The court pointed out that Rs 30 lakh was found from the petitioner’s bank account which is not satisfactorily accounted for by the petitioner.
Yadav’s advocate had pleaded that his client was not at all involved in the crime and was falsely implicated. The ED counsel had contradicted the claims saying they were based on flimsy grounds. The order, which was issued last month, has been uploaded on Monday. TNN
