Assam Congress plans new door-to-door campaign with Rahul Gandhi letter

Assam Congress plans new door-to-door campaign with Rahul Gandhi letter
GUWAHATI: A letter from Rahul Gandhi is expected to be the biggest motivator at the new campaign the party is planning from the Republic Day called ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo’ carrying his message to every home.
The letter will touch upon the concerns of the grand old party on burning issues that the country and the state are facing. The Gandhi scion is leading the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to revamp the party's fortunes and the march through different terrains and weather conditions has grabbed a great deal of attention especially because Rahul Gandhi has been seen in a T-shirt in bone-biting cold conditions likening himself to a poor who has no warm clothes.
AICC general secretary and the party’s Assam in-charge, Jitendra Singh, said the draft of the letter that will have Rahul Gandhi’s signature, is being modified. “The biggest attraction of the campaign will be the letter signed by Rahul Gandhi-ji that will be taken to every household. The letter has been drafted but there have been modifications to it,” Singh told TOI from Jaipur, on Tuesday.
“We will present a 'charge-sheet' against the BJP-led state government, which will feature the failures of the Assam government to keep its promises and highlight the scams since the tenure of the previous Sonowal government,” Singh added.
The new campaign, to be launched across the state, bears significance as it will not only carry the message of unity, love and peace as propagated in the Barat Jodo Yatra, but also be an attempt to mobilize the masses against the saffron coalition in the upcoming panchayat election in Assam. The rural polls are slated to be held towards the end of the year.
The state Congress has planned to run the ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo Campaign’ for at least two months to activate its members and supporters for taking the campaign to every mandal, booth and block in each district.
“The local leaders of the Congress have a mammoth task ahead to be the lead campaigners of the party,” said Manjit Mahanta, chairperson of the media department of Assam PCC. After the official launch of the programme on January 26, it will be rolled out from the Barak Valley on January 28.
Mahanta said price rise, unemployment and communalism are going to be the talking points though local issues will get due focus in the campaign.
