NEW DELHI: The government on Monday designated Arshdeep Singh Gill — a pro-Khalistan Canada-based terrorist involved in several cases of faith-based killings and extortion in Punjab and closely associated with Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar — as an ‘individual terrorist’ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
In a notification announcing inclusion of his name in the 4th Schedule of the UAPA which lists individual terrorists including Canada-based Nijjar, the home ministry stated that Arshdeep Singh Gill @ Arsh Dala, born on May 21, 1996 in Ludhiana, Punjab, presently based in
Canada, is associated with Khalistan Tiger Force and runs terror modules on Nijar’s behalf.
Arshdeep is involved in heinous crimes such as murder — including that of Hindu priest Kamaldeep Sharma in Jalandhar in January 2021 and Dera Sacha Sauda follower Manohar Lal in Bathinda in November 2020, both allegedly aimed at disturbing peace and disrupting communal harmony, besides cases of extortion by threatening businessmen in Punjab as well as terror funding. He is said to have ordered these killings by arranging weapons for his terror gang and paying them through wire transfers and also luring them with the promise of a visa to live in Canada.
The multiple cases against Arshdeep — who is said to have relocated to Canada in 2019 — are being investigated by the NIA.
