Ludhiana: In a major setback to general public, the staff and employees of different government offices like Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Ludhiana, Registry Offices, Driving Test Tracks have gone on mass casual leave from Monday four days.
This strike has been called as a protest against the arrest of Narinder Dhaliwal , secretary RTA Ludhiana by Vigilance Bureau (VB) in an alleged corruption case.
PCS officers too are on strike over the same issue and a meeting of their association is likely to take place tomorrow to decide next course of action.
Meanwhile Vikas Kumar, president of DC Office Employee Association Ludhiana said, “From today the employees and staff of the RTA Ludhiana office, Registry offices, Driving Test Tracks have gone on mass casual leave. Our strike is against the arrest of PCS office Narinder Dhaliwal who is secretary RTA Ludhiana. As of now our strike will continue till January 13 and we will also organise a meeting of all associations representing employees of different cadres and a unanimous decision will be taken on how to sharpen our agitation.”
Meanwhile speaking on the issue, social activist Keemti Rawal said, “The strike of the employee and staff of government departments will deal a big blow to the general public as all their important works like registries, driving tests, renewal of licenses , RCs etc will now be delayed. This strike is not justified and government must do something about it and ensure that employees call it off and return back to work tomorrow.”
