‘Raised quota to reflect in 9th schedule’

Mysuru: Social welfare minister Kota Shrinivas Poojari said that action has been taken to include increased reservation for the SC and ST communities in the 9th schedule of the constitution. Speaking here on Monday, he stated that reservations were increased after taking opposition parties into confidence. “The new legislation in this regard has been enacted unanimously. Now all the necessary steps have been taken to include this in the 9th schedule of the constitution,” he said.
Demand from various castes to include them in SC and ST categories will be considered after a study, the minister stated.
The state government is now releasing scholarships for students studying in classes I to VIII, he said.
