Jaipur: Four flights, including one international flight, were diverted to Jaipur airport on Monday morning due to poor visibility at the Delhi airport, said officials. All flights landed in Jaipur after 6am when there was dense fog at Delhi airport.
The four flights include Air India’s Sharjah-Delhi flight which landed here at 6am, and three Delhi-bound domestic flights from Cochin, Pune and Ahmedabad which landed here at 10:30am, 9:38am and 9:45am, respectively. “At Delhi airport, flights can land even with 50m visibility because of advanced technology, but when pilots are not trained properly to land with CAT3B conditions, then there is need for diverting the flight,” said an official from Jaipur International Airport.
Due to poor visibility in the national capital region, several flights have been diverted to Jaipur International Airport. In the past one week, over 13 flights for different destinations like Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh have been diverted to Jaipur due to poor visibility conditions. Officials said that flight diversions to Jaipur airport started after December 16.
Meanwhile, a few trains between Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur were also delayed by almost five hours due to fog and cold conditions.
Meanwhile, fog also left nine people injured when passengers travelling in a Rajasthan State Roadways Transport Corporation (RSRTC) bus were injured as it rammed into a truck moving ahead at Khelniya river area under Uniara police station area of Tonk on Monday evening.
According to the police, the accident took place at 8.45am amid dense fog cover when the RSRTC bus driver was overtaking another bus.
“During overtaking, the bus rammed into a truck moving ahead. Nine passengers in the front were injured. No loss of life has been reported so far,” said a senior officer of Uniara police station.
